Job Summary

The Substation Welder maintains and performs repairs, modifications, replacements and installations of a wide variety of low and high voltage electrical and electronic equipment and systems for both existing facilities, new acquisitions and those under renovation, and includes equipment that is either fixed or portable.

This role supports the construction of new Substations as well as modifications, and upgrades of existing Substations for Electrical Utility Companies. This is a traveling role that requires working in different job sites all over the state of Florida. Per diem is provided when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Develops welding plan by analyzing print specs and determining appropriate welding techniques.

  • Maintains safe work environment by following procedures and complying with safety standards. Constructs components by using equipment to cut, clean, and weld after setting-up and measuring assemblies and selecting appropriate method.

  • Verifies welding results by inspecting and testing welds.

  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.

  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have Tig Welding experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10

  • 6G certified

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
